What is microblading?

Microblading (also referred to as Microstroking, Eyebrow Embroidery, Feather Stroke Brows, 3D Brows, micropigmentation, etc.) is the process of manually implanting color pigment into the top layer of skin (between the dermis and epidermis, not as deep as a regular tattoo), by means of tiny, sterile, disposable needles to produce the appearance of hair strokes.

How long does microblading take to heal?

It takes approximately 7-14 days for the brows to heal over, and about 1 month for the color to fully set in.

How long does it last?

Proper aftercare will save your pigment from fading. Typically, microblading will last 1-3 years. This, however, can be affected by the use of harsh topical skin care around the area, unprotected UV exposure, and improper aftercare.

Can I choose my shape?

I provide each of my clients an in-depth brow mapping and analysis. We will both work together to outline the perfect shape of brow that compliments both your facial structure and your personal style.

Does microblading hurt?

A topical anesthetic is used, so there is very little discomfort. In fact, many clients fall asleep during the treatment!

How to prepare for microblading?

Unless your doctor instructs you otherwise, please avoid taking fish oils, ibuprofen/blood thinners, and pain relievers/killers to help prevent excessive bleeding. Avoid consuming caffeine and alcoholic drinks 48 hours before your microblading. On the day of the procedure, please don’t exercise. Those on Accutane or other strong retinoids should wait after 6 months. Ten days before your appointment, avoid using glycolic acid, chemical peels, retinoids, exfoliators, or any other products that make your skin sensitive.

How will my brows look immediately?

For the first week or so, your brows will appear darker and more intense than usual. At the end of the healing process, this will gradually lighten by about one shade, and the hair strokes will soften and shrink by about 15%. With time, the minimal redness and swelling (which may be more for clients with sensitive skin) will subside. After your procedure, you should expect your brows to look bolder than usual for a few days.

What should I know about long term care?

With time, the color will become lighter. To maintain the best possible appearance for brows, annual touch-ups are recommended. Your skin type, lifestyle, amount of sun exposure, pigment color used, broken capillaries, iron deficiency, and whether or not chemical peels were performed after your procedure are all major factors in fading. If you are planning a chemical peel, MRI, or other medical procedure, please inform the technician that you have had an iron-oxide cosmetic tattoo done. Careful application must be taken to avoid affecting the tattooed area. If you are planning to have laser treatments, tell your laser specialist to avoid the pigmented area. Laser may discolor the pigment.
